Acrobatics is basically the floor routine in gymnastics.
Each class begins with an extensive stretch because flexibility is the key
to acrobatics. Then, each student, in turn, practices each "trick" across
the mat. The beginner classes begin with log rolls followed by forward &
backward rolls & cartwheels. As a student masters each trick they progress
at their own level into backbends, back walkovers, back extensions, etc. The
Intermediate & Advanced classes begin with dive rolls, cartwheels &
round-offs & quickly advance to back limbers, back handsprings, back tucks,
etc. Again, each student progresses at his/her own level leaving no student
feeling pressured or bored. A Recital routine begins earlier in the year for
the beginner classes whereas the advanced class begins their Recital routine
in January/February which takes up the last 15 - 20 minutes of class time. |
